Good morning. At least 34 Australians are among hundreds of people unaccounted for after flash flooding on the Nepal-Tibet border killed at least 160.
A wall of mud and rock gave way into a river on Wednesday, taking homes, roads, bridges and power plants with it on both sides of the border.

INFLATION DROPS TO 3.5% BUT REMAINS ABOVE TARGET, PUSHING RATE HIKE ODDS TO 87%
The RBA's preferred trimmed mean measure, which strips out the most volatile prices, stayed flat at 3.6% in July while headline inflation fell to 3.5%. Both sit above the central bank's 2-3% target band.
Housing drove the inflation print, up 5% over the year, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages at 3.2%. Non-discretionary purchases (food, shelter, healthcare, car maintenance, school fees and compulsory insurance) rose 3.7%. Energy figures were distorted by a sharp electricity price increase from July last year dropping out of the 12-month comparison while fuel prices jumped as a fuel subsidy was halved.
The next inflation data comes out on 30 September, one day after the RBA's September meeting, meaning the RBA will need to move in September or wait until November.

META TO PAY $23.6B TO SETTLE US STATES' LAWSUIT OVER TEEN SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTION
The settlement ends a federal trial in California that accused the company of deliberately designing its platforms to hook young users, misleading the public about the risks and unlawfully collecting data from children under 13.
Meta will pay up to $23.6B over 10 years and add strict child-safety limits to Facebook and Instagram under the agreement with 47 US states announced on Wednesday. The trial had been expected to see CEO Mark Zuckerberg testify before a jury.
Meta will introduce new safeguards including limits on scrolling time and locked safety settings for teen users. The settlement does not cover thousands of personal injury claims or litigation from school districts still facing the company.
