Fujifilm Australia is using bite-sized mental health webinars to support employee wellbeing and drive performance, but the strategy also addresses post-pandemic burnout and engagement challenges. The approach has helped boost staff engagement scores to 92%, outpacing the company’s global average by 11%.

The program, called Bento Box, consists of 12 webinar sessions that cover mental health topics in an accessible way for employees, their families and friends. Created in partnership with a leading mental health strategist, the series builds skills such as resilience and emotional intelligence, aiming to remove stigma and improve workplace culture. Employees can access the sessions live or on demand, with nearly full participation across the country.

Employee engagement in Australia has significantly improved since the initiative began. Around 90% of staff take part in engagement surveys, and results show steady gains year over year. Fujifilm Australia has also rolled out learning and development perks, including staff discounts on their product lines and encouragement for external training, such as MBAs or international courses.

The company’s hybrid working model is another layer in its strategy to maintain both performance and wellbeing. Staff are grouped into five working profiles to determine their ideal in-office versus remote split. Office-based admin roles maintain a physical presence, while sales teams spend more time on the road or at home.

Despite these positive outcomes, the business is tackling rising levels of burnout reported after the pandemic. Leadership regularly surveys staff and uses feedback to improve flexible work arrangements and monitor wellness. This pre-emptive mindset fits into Fujifilm’s broader mission to make work meaningful and sustainable - backed by the company’s legacy and its growing investment in Australian innovation and healthcare technology.

Recent investments, including a patient-friendly MRI machine in Gladesville and the launch of an advanced mammography device in Perth, demonstrate how Fujifilm Australia is aligning staff wellbeing with its purpose of delivering smiles and health outcomes. The House of Photography flagship store in Sydney adds to its expanding local footprint.
