ALGORITHMS NOW SCREEN JOB APPLICATIONS AND ROBO-RECRUITERS CONDUCT INTERVIEWS
Job hunters are complaining that algorithms now screen their applications and robo-recruiters conduct their interviews, removing the human element from hiring. Others say generative AI has intensified their workload rather than easing it.
In one study, employees worked at a faster pace and took on a broader scope of tasks after AI was introduced.
Some workers are opting out of automated shortcuts altogether, saying the tools make them lazy-brained and contaminate their thinking. The shift is most visible in hiring, where applicants now face screening by algorithm before a human ever reads their CV.

ANZ WILL LET COMPANIES MOVE MONEY OVERSEAS INSTANTLY USING TOKENISED DEPOSITS
ANZ is launching a new digital deposit system later this year that will allow large corporates to shift funds across borders in real-time, becoming the only Australian bank among 17 international lenders to adopt the technology on Swift's network.
Funds will clear instantly, including on weekends.
The system uses a "tokenised deposit" - a digital token representing a standard bank deposit that moves on blockchain infrastructure. Swift, the secure messaging service banks use for cross-border transactions, is rolling out the network. Companies will be able to fund overseas subsidiaries or pay international suppliers without waiting for clearing, which can take days under the current system.
The tokenised deposit differs from a stablecoin, another form of digital money moving on blockchain. Both are tokens that settle instantly. A tokenised deposit is backed by funds held in the issuing bank's deposit accounts, while a stablecoin is backed by reserves held by the issuer, outside the traditional banking system.
Australia's big banks are also making early steps towards stablecoins.
