Good morning. We have already seen various winners and losers in the global race to adopt AI. Yet one unlikely winner has already cashed in: Anguilla.

The tiny Caribbean nation happens to own the internet domain extension .ai (think Australia’s .au). With the explosion of AI start-ups snapping up those domains, Anguilla earned $39 million USD last year, making up nearly 23% of its total government revenue.

Easily one of the most profitable AI strategies we've seen so far.

TRIVIA

Our puzzle today comes from puzzleaday.wordpress.com:

Alice is judging a singing competition. After a singer finishes their performance, she announces aloud their whole-number score out of ten.

The first singer finishes their performance and Alice announces, “I give you a nine”.

The second singer finishes their performance and Alice announces “I give you a five”.

The third singer walks up on stage. They sing for two minutes then pause. Alice then mistakenly begins to announce their score but gets cut off by the singer, “Wait, I haven’t finished yet!”

Alice then responds, “It’s okay, I didn’t announce your score. I stopped just before saying the number”.

The third singer retorts, “You didn’t say the number or any part of the number but I know what score you were going to give me”.

What score out of ten was Alice about to give the third singer?

ANSWER

Alice was going to give the third singer an eight.

The singer could only know this if Alice said “I give you an…”. The word ‘an’ only precedes the number eight (for all the whole numbers between 0 and 10) because it’s the only one of these numbers that begins with a vowel.
